Every week, Bishop Joseph Inkum’s messages are gathered here as short reflections to read, sit with, and pray through — the verse of the week, a word to carry with you, and a prayer to make your own. A new Faith Journey post is added each week; settle in with the latest journey below.

Walking with God in Everyday Life

Welcome to Faith Journey, our weekly space for exploring faith, lifestyle, spirituality, leadership, service, godly parenting, and the everyday practice of following Jesus.
Faith is a journey we live one step at a time. Some steps feel confident; others come with questions. There are seasons when the way ahead seems clear and seasons when we can barely see beyond today. Yet through every season, God invites us to walk with Him.
Notice the invitation in Proverbs: “In all thy ways acknowledge him.” Our relationship with God belongs in every part of life — in our homes, workplaces, conversations, decisions, and responsibilities.
Invite God into the ordinary
We often seek God when we face a crisis. We pray when circumstances become overwhelming or when a decision feels too difficult to make alone. But the Lord also welcomes us in the ordinary moments.
Before responding to a difficult message, pause and pray. Before beginning your work, ask for wisdom and patience. Before correcting your child, ask God to help you speak with firmness and love.
These small pauses help us become attentive to God. Over time, they can reshape our habits and the way we treat people.
A faithful life grows through repeated choices: telling the truth, keeping a promise, showing kindness, and doing what is right when nobody is watching.
Let faith shape your relationships
The people closest to us encounter our faith through our behaviour. They hear our tone, observe our reactions, and experience the consequences of our choices.
At home, faith may mean listening without interrupting. In leadership, it may mean accepting correction. In parenting, it may mean apologizing when we have spoken harshly. In service, it may mean giving someone our full attention rather than treating them as another task.
Ephesians 4:15 calls us to speak the truth in love. Both matter. Love gives our words care; truth gives them substance.
We will not handle every relationship perfectly. When we fall short, humility allows us to acknowledge it, seek forgiveness, and begin again.
Serve faithfully where you are
It is easy to imagine that purpose begins somewhere else — with a larger platform, a different job, or greater recognition. Yet there are people within our reach who need encouragement today.
A child needs patient guidance. A colleague needs support. A neighbour needs compassion. Someone who feels forgotten needs to know that their life matters.
Jesus taught His disciples that greatness involves serving others (Mark 10:43–45). Service gives practical expression to the love we profess.
Ask yourself: Who can I help with what God has already placed in my hands?
Take the next faithful step
Trusting God does not mean we stop thinking carefully or seeking wise counsel. It means we acknowledge the limits of our understanding and remain willing to follow His direction.
You may not have answers to every question today. Still, there may be one clear step you can take: establish a time for prayer, repair a neglected relationship, fulfil a responsibility, or offer help to someone in need.
Begin there.
As we embark on this Faith Journey together, may our faith deepen, our character mature, and our daily lives reflect the grace of Jesus Christ.
Reflections
- Which part of my everyday life needs a more deliberate invitation to God?
- How do my words and actions communicate faith to the people closest to me?
- What practical act of service can I offer this week?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for walking with us through every season. Teach us to acknowledge You in our daily decisions and responsibilities. Give us wisdom to lead, patience to nurture our families, and compassion to serve others. Where we have fallen short, help us respond with humility and make things right. Guide our next step, and let our lives reflect the love of Jesus. In Jesus’ name, amen.
The journey continues: a new Faith Journey reflection is added here every week, gathered from the week’s messages. Subscribe on YouTube or follow the Facebook Page so each week’s word finds you — and send us a prayer request any time you would like us to pray with you along the way.
